I am happy to report that the IV bags are working to reduce the problems I have had following my chemo treatments. I have had pain, but much less nausea. Tonight Cindy and I will be going out to eat at San Jose. Something I wouldn't be able to do otherwise.
Next Tuesday I will learn what Dr. Mcelveen has planned for the rest of my treatments. He may go ahead and do three more in a row or decide to skip a week. Either way will work for me. I will also ask about when he plans to do the P.E.T. scan to determine the efficacy of my treatments.
I hope that all is going well with all of you.
Your brother in Christ,
Mack

Mack-I picked up you web site on google. I monitor "Pancreatic Cancer" for my friend whose wife has your condition. She has been on Gemzar for about a year. Her tumor is decreasing in size. In addition she has been taking Avastin. As you may know, Avastin has received some bad press in the last week. They may consider using Tarceva as an alternate.
If and when the tumor stops responding to Gemzar, they plan to use the radiation beam device called the "Cyber Knife". They just installed one last year, here in Milwaukee (St. Lukes). My wife, who has had cancer in the brain, lung and liver has been treated with this device. It has the ability to "track" tumors inside the body, even as the patient breaths. St. Lukes has already done pancreatic tumors. You may want to ask about it in your area. I'm sure they must have one in the SF area.
Anyway..good luck with your treatment. I must get 10 E-mails a night on Pancreatic Cancer alone. As of last year there were 400 Chemo drugs under development. John's Hopkins and made some amazing developments in coming up with a Vaccine which boosts the body's immune system to fight cancer. A cure within the next few years is a possibility. Hang on!
